Wave goodbye to unused grassy pasture and a garden shed full of rusty tools and debris, because for $140,920 this contemporary granny flat could be a practical feature of your backyard- and extend your household.
With the rise on children lingering at home for longer or empty-nesters looking to downsize, Summit Granny Flats saw a gap in the market waiting to be filled with affordable yet contemporary accommodation options.
Their response is a recently launched range of 20 “move-in-ready” granny flat designs that can be transported to your backyard in just 40 days. Summit Granny Flats manager Chris Johnston says the collection brings modern and high-spec homes to the WA market which in turn offers the perfect way to keep blended families together without living on top of each other.
The Lawrence, located at Summit’s head office in Myaree, is the first display of the range.
“The home is the perfect choice for an older relative or for adult children seeking some independence away from the family unit, but still within close comfort for when togetherness is needed,” Chris says.
“More and more we are finding that homebuyers are turning to granny flats as a popular and cost-effective option for modern-day living.”
While small in stature, the home encompasses two bedrooms, a bathroom, and open-plan kitchen, living and dining, and a laundry nook.
With its light and bright colour palette, the home is a blank canvass for occupants to add their own stylish touch.
Its contemporary façade with skillion roof also makes the abode an unobtrusive addition to the backyard.
Clever design and materials renowned for their fast construction speed and their thermal properties men the homes are constructed both affordable and efficiently.
The designs are built in Summit’s on-site facility. The Lawrence took only 40 days from start to finish, using steel framing and Masterwall cladding. It can be transported and craned into the backyard in a day.
The range of 20 designs start at $95,000 and homeowners have the choice to build in steel framing and Masterwall or traditional double brick.
